От Ростова мы свернули с Ярославского шоссе налево, на Углич. До него отсюда несколько десятков километров по вполне приличной дороге. Совсем недалеко от Ростова еще одно любопытное место - поселок Борисоглебский, райцентр. Недалеко от него мои родители когда-то купили дом в почти заброшенной деревне (за триста рублей, примерно столько же стоил хороший велосипед “Турист”). Брошенные дома и целые деревни и сегодняшняя реальность, цены на землю, думаю, не сильно изменились.

Сюда же я заглянул во время своих двухнедельных странствий по местным лесам в конце восьмидесятых. В те времена критически накренившегося социализма сюда съезжались отряды добровольцев для восстановления монастыря. Похоже, это был такой вариант диссидентства – помогать восстанавливать храмы, раз власти были против этого принципиально.

Как раз при мне в монастырь свезли чудом сохранившиеся колокола со всей округи, ребята-добровольцы учились звонить под руководством приглашенного откуда-то с Севера звонаря. На следующий день что-то праздновали, понаехала куча народа.

Теперь, двадцать лет спустя, ожидал увидеть полностью отреставрированный монастырь и очень удивился, когда нашел его почти в таком же живописно-полузаброшенном виде.
